CAIR-MA Names Three New Members to Executive Board
(BOSTON, MA, 10/12/2022) – The Massachusetts chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MA) today announced the naming of three new members – Othman Ladan, Sarah Khatib and Yasmin Abdulatheem – to its executive board.
“It is our pleasure and honor to welcome these new members to our executive board and know they will – God willing – help build on our record of service and commitment to the cause of civil and religious rights,” said CAIR-Massachusetts Executive Director Tahirah Amatul-Wadud.
Othman Ladan is a health educator specializing in Islamic Education and behavior counseling. He is currently the Program Director for the Quran program at Worcester Islamic Center. Ladan has worked with youth and family development within New York City and Central Massachusetts for more than 11 years. He is passionate about uplifting the community and believes in the importance of staying true to one’s values.
Sarah Khatib has a background in civil structural engineering. She is deeply involved in her community, serving on the Walpole Planning Board, as a Town Meeting Member and through other community organizations. She founded a community-focused nonprofit and serves as its president. She and her husband are raising four amazing children. Khatib is passionate about enriching peoples’ understanding of Islam, promoting justice, protecting civil rights, political representation and the advancement of the Muslim Ummah.
Yasmin Abdulatheem is the owner of Complete Virtual Services, a company providing small business development and educational consulting. She has over two decades of nonprofit management experience centered in providing service to the Muslim community. Abdulatheem is a civic engagement leader focused on raising the voice of Muslims and the youth. She believes in taking shared actions to preserve human rights through open interreligious dialogue and advocacy. Abdulatheem holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, and a master’s degree in Education.
They join existing board members, The Rev. Corey Sanderson, Raheela Rahman, founding board member Zahid Siddiqui, and Mouaad Lebeche.
